Hey friend!

Happy Women’s History Month! I know, the month is almost over, but before we say say goodbye to March and hello to April, I wanted to dedicate a post to a group of women who contribute a great deal to society. Families specifically! The midwives.

Through my job, I’ve learned so much about them recently, and I have such a great respect for them. You should, too. And I thought to myself, “Why not share what I’ve just learned?” So, I wrote a very brief post about what learned and shared some resources with y’all. Pretty please, go ahead and give it a read. I promise you won’t be disappointed.

It is so important to have a healthy, safe birth, and having someone that looks like you or shares your culture can contribute to that. However, most midwives are white, and may not be able to connect or understand BIPOC women during this very precious moment in their lives. And considering Black women are at a higher risk of dying during childbirth, it matters who’s in our corner to help us ensure we deliver healthy babies and stay alive.

Consider donating to the BIPOC Student Midwives Fund, or find your nearest Midwifery school or program and see how you can support a future midwife.
